AUR40620 - Certificate IV in Automotive Electrical Technology

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work as master diagnostic technicians the  automotive service and repair industry; servicing, diagnosing and repairing vehicle electrical systems and  components. It requires a wide variety of electrical diagnostic abilities, as well as leadership and  management of others. This qualification will equip you with high-level skills and knowledge using  modern diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot vehicle electrical systems and components. 

  • Total = 39 weeks.
  • Tuition = 33 weeks.
  • Break = 6 weeks.

Candidates over the age of 18 (including senior citizens) who have automotive electrical Certificate III  qualification, or demonstrated equivalency and wish to further develop their advanced diagnostic and  technical skills can apply. The target audience for this course is domestic students who wish to acquire the skills, knowledge, and practices  necessary to find employment in the automotive retail, service, and repair, mechanical industries.

  • Must be of a minimum age of 18+ at the time of course commencement. 
  • Candidates must have successfully completed at least grade 12 or equivalent. Or completed studies equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification from an English language speaking country. 
  • Those undertaking AUR40620 Certificate IV in Automotive Electrical Technology must have completed AUR30316 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency. 
  • Students may be required to undertake a few assessments of their Pre-Training Review (PTR) Test & Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test as part of their application process. Successful completion of LLN test is mandatory while applying for the qualification, before enrolment.

This certification describes the duties of those who operate as master diagnostic technicians in the  automotive service and repair sector. They maintain, repair, and diagnose hybrid electric vehicle electrical  systems and components. It requires a wide variety of sophisticated electrical diagnostic abilities, as well  as leadership and management of others. 

After finishing this course, students will be qualified for employment as a senior technician or electrical  diagnostics technical specialist in a dealership, franchise, or repair shop. Possible job titles relevant to this  qualification may include: 

  • Electrical Master Diagnostic Technician 
  • Automotive Lead Master Technician 
  • Automotive Technical Adviser 
  • Automotive Electrical Workshop Manager/Service Manager 

Further training pathways from this qualification include AUR50116 Diploma of Automotive  Management, AUR50216 Diploma in Automotive Technology or other relevant qualifications.

Outcome : 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be awarded AUR40620 Certificate IV in  Automotive Electrical Technology.
