CPP20218 - Certificate II in Security Operations

This certification reflects the job of a security officer, whose duties include patrolling, defending  or guarding property without a weapon, screening visitors, keeping an eye on behavior, and  ejecting people from a location. 

  • Total = 36 weeks.
  • Tuition = 30 weeks.
  • Break = 6 weeks.

Candidates over the age of 18 (including senior citizens) who are wanting to work in the security  profession, either as a career or as a replacement for looking for additional job that might fit into  their hectic schedule can apply.  

  • Must be of a minimum age of 18+ at the time of course commencement.
  • Candidates must have successfully completed at least grade 12 or equivalent. Or  completed studies equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification from an English  language speaking country 
  • Students may be required to undertake a few assessments of their Pre-Training  Review (PTR) Test & Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test as part of their  application process. Successful completion of LLN test is mandatory while applying for the qualification, before enrolment. 
  • Those undertaking the CPP20218 – Certificate II in Security Operations must have HLTAID011 Provide first aid.

This qualification is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the security sector.  The goal of this certification is to give candidates the foundational information and abilities  required to perform the duties of a security officer. This also applies to people who have gained  their qualifications and abilities through other work or training opportunities, such as the police  force, the corrections system, military service, or having held a security qualification and license.  

This qualification is intended to align with the following occupational licencing outcomes: 

  • Security officer – unarmed guard 
  • Security officer – crowd controller 

Suggested pathways for further study after completion of this qualification include CPP31318  Certificate III in Security operations or CPP31418 Certificate III in Close Protection.  

It provides a pathway to further learning and work in various security roles and settings  including, but not limited to: 

  • Armed guarding 
  • Cash-in-transit 
  • Close protection 
  • Control room operations 
  • Guard dog handling.

The above selected elective units may be substituted for any of the approved elective units from the training package, that meet with the packaging rules for this qualification as mentioned above.

Outcome : 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be awarded  CPP20218 – Certificate II in Security  Operations.
