AUR40216 - Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis

This qualification reflects the job duties of those who work in the automobile retail, service, and repair industries. In the automotive service and repair sector, this qualification offers a path to employment as an Automotive Master Technician undertaking technical, diagnostic, and repair jobs.

  • Total = 38 weeks.
  • Tuition = 34 weeks.
  • Break = 4 weeks.

Candidates over the age of 18 (including senior citizens) who have automotive Certificate III qualification  or demonstrated equivalency and wish to further develop their advanced diagnostic and technical skills  can apply. The target audience for this course is domestic students who wish to acquire the skills, knowledge, and practices necessary to find  employment in the automotive retail, service, and repair industries. 

  • Must be of a minimum age of 18+ at the time of course commencement. 
  • Candidates must have successfully completed at least grade 12 or equivalent. Or completed studies equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification from an English language speaking country. 
  • Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
  • Students may be required to undertake a few assessments of their Pre-Training Review (PTR) Test & Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test as part of their application process. Successful completion of LLN test is mandatory while applying for the qualification, before enrolment.

The knowledge and abilities needed to carry out advanced diagnostic procedures in the automobile retail,  service, and repair environments are covered by this qualification. Students will learn and practice a range  of diagnostic techniques. International students who want to upgrade their mechanical abilities and career in Australia’s automotive industry should enroll in this programme. Through paths to other courses,  students can improve their understanding of the automotive industry. 

This qualification provides a pathway to work as an as mechanical technician with advanced knowledge  within the automotive industry. Possible job titles include: 

  • Automotive Lead or Master Technician 
  • Automotive Technical Advisor 
  • Automotive Diagnostic Technician 

After achieving this qualification individuals could progress to AUR50216 Diploma of Automotive  Technology or AUR50116 Diploma of Automotive Management or other relevant qualifications.

The above selected elective units may be substituted for any of the approved elective units from the training package, that meet with the packaging rules for this qualification as mentioned above.

Outcome : 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be awarded AUR40216 – Certificate IV in  Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis.
